StreetPrint Design Parameters

StreetPrint designs can range from traditional brick patterns to motifs and logos. The installation and manufacturing processes can place some limitations, not only on what can and cannot be done, but what looks aesthetically pleasing as well. Below are important considerations that should be taken into account while creating StreetPrint patterns and design layouts.

A. Manufacturing

The manufacturing process drives the main design constraints for the actual templates themselves.

  1. Template Density

The StreetPrint templates are welded together with wire rope made special for Shariden Asphalt Design.

The spacing between the welds should be a minimum of 3" apart, and a maximum of 12" apart.

When welds are closer or spanning farther than recommended, a number of problems can occur:

    1. Wire cut shorter than 3" can fray slightly at the ends, causing difficulty for welding
    2. Tight spacing for brick patterns result in dense and heavy templates that have very high tension, causing the pattern to run out of alignment.
    3. Too much distance between welds result in flimsy templates that are not rigid enough to maintain the pattern well.
  2. Template Size

For production and applicators in the field, template size is important for handling. The recommended size for a repeatable template is about 9’x6’.

B. Patterns

Repeatability and interlock – It is ideal to create pattern that can repeated, mirrored, and overlap onto itself within the 9’x6’ recommended template size. This is to provide maximum flexibility to the applicator in the field, and to limit confusion and installation mistakes.
